Purchasing Consortia - MACNY Joint Buying Opportunities

MACNY has created several buying opportunities for our members. These offerings are targeted at the needs of manufacturers to help lower the costs of doing business in New York. These programs are available exclusively to MACNY members. There is no cost for a member to participate in the MACNY buying consortia.

Get Involved!

MACNY's purchasing consortia are made stronger through the participation of our members. We encourage you to learn if our buying opportunities can provide you with a savings.

Please contact John Lawyer, MACNY's Director of Purchasing and Technology Solutions, for more information about these programs. (JLawyer@macny.org, 315.474.4201 X17)

In our reviews of these programs, the savings from participation far exceed the dues of the members that participate. We hope that we can provide this for your company as well.

MACNY Electricity Aggregation

MACNY is offering participation in an electricity aggregation currently comprised of 50 companies buying a load of approximately 50 MW of energy.  The opportunity is to take advantage of rates that are normally only available to the largest electricity consumers. The energy services company selected to serve this aggregation is Pepco Energy Services. We are offering a variety of products including fixed rate and variable rate agreements to allow our members to manage energy costs in accordance with their risk and budgetary goals.

Since 1995, Pepco Energy Services has successfully evolved to become one of the leading providers of energy and energy-related products and services for the full range of energy users from small business customers to large commercial, institutional, industrial and government users. With more than $1 billion in annual revenue in 2006, Pepco Energy Services now provides services from North Carolina to Massachusetts, New York to Chicago. Pepco Energy Services also offers green electricity to residential customers. A wholly owned, separately managed subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI), Pepco Energy Services provides both energy suppliers and large energy users such as utilities, municipalities, cooperatives and aggregators with an array of energy management services including risk management and acquisition and management of power generation assets.

PHI is the energy holding company formed as a result of the merger between Pepco and Conectiv. The company delivers a combined 50,000 gigawatt hours of power to more than 1.8 million customers in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia, making it one of the largest electricity delivery companies in the Mid-Atlantic region.

To contact Pepco Energy services, please call Kelly Douvlis at 845-897-3661, or by email at kdouvlis@pepcoenergy.com. Pepco can assist you in understanding your energy choices and provide you with pricing based on the MACNY program.

We continue to add companies to this aggregation during the year, allowing additional companies to take advantage of the same benefits as current participants.  There is no cost to participate in this aggregation.  If you would like to request a quote, please complete this form.

MACNY Natural Gas Consortium

MACNY is pleased to announce its newest buying group; the MACNY Natural Gas Consortium. After a careful review and competitive bid process, MACNY selected National Fuel Resources to be the supplier for the consortium. National Fuel offered strong support for the consortium principle and the lowest prices.

National Fuel Resources, Inc. (NFR) markets natural gas to thousands of industrial, commercial, public authority and residential customers throughout New York and western Pennsylvania, offering competitively priced energy and energy management services to its customers. NFR is a wholly owned subsidiary of National Fuel Gas Company, a $3.7 billion diversified energy corporation that has been in business for over 100 years. NFR itself has been in business since the beginnings of deregulation. NFR has grown to become one of the largest regional marketing companies in New York State, supported by industrial and commercial groups, state and local governments, schools and universities. NFR strengths include competitive pricing, and reliability; key criteria for choosing an energy supplier. They have a diverse network of suppliers, as well as extensive experience in pipeline and storage management.

NFR offers a wide array of pricing and hedging options tailored to meet the individual needs of each business. Please complete this form if you would like to learn more about particpating in the MACNY Natural Gas program; or contact  Jim Lalley from National Fuel Resources  to receive a proposal and pricing for your specific accounts (jlalley@nfrinc.com, 716.630.6728). And please contact John Lawyer at MACNY (315.474.4201 X17) to ask about the program and how it works. The program allows you to receive benefit regardless of when you join the consortium.

MACNY MRO/Shop Supply Consortium

MACNY members are eligible to participate in the MACNY Industrial Supply Consortium. MACNY selected Haun Welding Supply from a large group of national and regional suppliers due to its very competitive pricing and service quality. The purpose of this consortium is to make low prices for MRO items available to our members; these prices are normally only available to large companies.

This consortium includes MRO items like cutting tools, lubricants, hand tools, abrasives, material handling equipment, sealants, shop supplies, and, of course, welding supplies.

There is no cost to participate in the Industrial Supplies Consortium. We anticipate that this will provide a significant savings for our members, and we would like to include as many MACNY members as possible. Request Information

MACNY Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Consortium

Crouse Hospital's EAP program, HelpPeople, has offered MACNY members a special rate for it services for the last two years. HelpPeople provides MACNY members the same rates that are normally only available to it largest customers.  EAP programs provide an excellent return on investment for companies that have the program available. MACNY Office Supply Consortium

MACNY is pleased to announce the launch of a new and improved Office Supply Consortium.  We have made several improvements to the program to make savings broadly available to our members.  The most significant change is that we have selected a new provider, Hummel’s Office Plus. This respected regional supplier provided lower prices for an expanded market basket and is known for providing good service.

Another notable change is that we have eliminated the fee for participating in this opportunity. This consortium is now free for all MACNY members.

There is an extensive market basket on which you will receive deep discounts. You will also receive large company discounts on other catalog items. That is it. As a member of MACNY, you just pay a lower price.

We hope that you will find the enhanced program to be useful for your business. To sign up for this consortium, please complete the interest form on our web site. To learn about pricing and about doing business with Hummels, please call Tim Hall at 315.432.9000 (tim@hummelsop.com)

MACNY Equipment Maintenance Consortium

MACNY is pleased to announce its new Equipment Maintenance Consortium. This is an opportunity for companies to save 10-20% on electronic equipment maintenance agreements.

Through the program, you replace your current maintenance agreements with a risk management/insurance product from our consortium providers. The premiums for this product will be lower than your current costs. When your equipment needs either repair or preventative maintenance, you call your local vendor to service the equipment on your schedule, but the bill is paid for by our provider. You save the administrative time and costs of billing and maintaining contracts.

This program may be particularly helpful to a company that has maintenance contracts on several machines. For example, do you have a maintenance contract on a fax machine, a computer server, and a time clock? Or do you have maintenance agreements on a photo copy machine, a printer,
and a card access system for your store room? Or perhaps you have medical equipment like an
ultrasound, laboratory or radiological equipment. The program may be helpful for replacing these agreements with the potential for significant savings.

Our provider for this program is MACNY member Brown & Brown Empire State and The REMI Group.
