Introduction
Providing a safe and healthy workplace is one of the key priorities in business today. Not only is it mandated, but it generates a high return to dedicated companies, both in the retention and satisfaction of your employees and the efficiency gained from a healthy and safe workforce.
The Safety Council consists of safety professionals and individuals within firms dedicated to providing safe work environments. The Council conducts programming and tours providing best practices to leverage within participants businesses.
Send us a note if you are interested in applying for the MACNY Safety Council.
2010 Safety Awards Program
The Manufacturers Association is now in it’s sixth year of the MACNY/OSHA Alliance. Our mission is to use the collective expertise of both organizations to help advance a culture of accident prevention while sharing information, guidance, best practices, access to training resources and technical knowledge that will help protect employees’ safety and health. In particular, the Alliance focuses on the areas of development and implementation of ‘world class’ safety and health programs within the manufacturing industry.
To help support this effort, the MACNY Safety Council will be awarding firms with ‘best practices’ in safety $200 - $500. This award can be used for safety-related purposes, such as the purchase of safety equipment or safety training videos, or to conduct safety training for employees. The winners will also receive a certificate of achievement. The monetary awards and certificates will be distributed at a dinner on June 9, 2010 to close the Safety Council program year.
Included with this letter is the MACNY Safety Award Survey. If you feel your firm has a ‘world-class’ safety program, or a ‘best-practice’ in safety you would like to highlight, please complete the survey and return it, along with any documentation you can provide, to the MACNY offices by March 1, 2010. The Safety Council Executive Committee will decide from those submissions which firms they feel deserve the award. Areas you may want to discuss:

OSHA Alliance
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and The Manufacturers Association (MACNY) have formed an Alliance to use their collective expertise to help foster a culture of prevention while sharing best practices and technical knowledge. This Alliance has provided several interesting opportunities for MANCY Members including low cost mandated training, and free safety audits to small manufacturers.
