From August 13th to August 17th, the Auburn P-TECH Summer Bridge marked the beginning of another new P-TECH class. The incoming freshmen P-TECH students spent the week learning about the P-TECH program, meeting with Cayuga Community College representatives, going on industry visits to Welch Allyn and Currier Plastics, learning soft skills as how to work collaboratively with their peers. The industry visits to Welch Allyn and Currier Plastics are an important aspect in the P-TECH program because it gives the students a closer look at the companies. Not just the products they manufacture, but it lets the students see the company’s culture, the types of jobs they employ, and allows them the opportunity to ask questions. Through the industry visits companies can begin relationship building with students with the prospect of filling their future employment needs.
