On behalf of MACNY – The Manufacturers Association, we applaud Governor Kathy Hochul’s continued commitment to investing in workforce development initiatives across the state, which includes expanding access to registered apprenticeships. 

MACNY has been training and serving hundreds of apprentices since we launched our Manufacturers Intermediary Apprenticeship Program. We know this model is successful in helping to create career pathways for underserved populations, upskill incumbent workers, and fill open positions while increasing employee retention. 

We will continue to work with the Governor’s team and our state and community partners to support apprenticeship programs in high-growth areas, such as advanced manufacturing, IT, and other growing industries and trades. In addition, we look forward to working together to expand job opportunities for workers with disabilities. The Governor’s creative approach to strengthening our workforce and providing more job training opportunities to all New Yorkers will help us recover from the pandemic and create a stronger economy.
