Manufacturing is poised for significant growth in New York state, according to Randy Wolken, MACNY president & CEO. “Our expansion here will also contribute to meaningful growth in manufacturing for the entire country,” he said. “The Central New York region is a hot spot for manufacturing. It is pretty exciting. We are very pleased that this is happening.”

Pushing for more women to get into manufacturing, programs like the Real Life Rosies® through the Manufacturers Association of Central New York have helped women find their footing in the field.

The Mohawk Valley is one of three locations that will advance to the planning state of the $200 million One Network for Regional Advanced Manufacturing Partnerships (ON-RAMP) program to create a network of high-impact workforce-development centers to connect people with careers, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced.

The Mohawk Valley has been selected to advance to the planning phase of the $200 million One Network for Regional Advanced Manufacturing Partnerships (ON-RAMP) program. Alongside the Capital and Finger Lakes regions, all three will feature a flagship location in Syracuse. This initiative establishes a network of workforce development centers that will connect New Yorkers to careers in the advanced manufacturing sector.

The Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association (RTMA) through its partnership with the Manufacturers Intermediary Apprenticeship Program (MIAP) will receive workforce development funding from the Empire State Development of Office of Strategic Workforce Development to scale its Direct Entry Pre-Apprenticeship programs.
